Mercedes-Benz,Stylo to host fashion grand prix | The Indian Express

Related. Stylo,a London-based Asian fashion entertainment fringe partner of sporting events signed an MoU with Mercedes-Benz India to stage a fashion grand prix entitled ‘Stylo & the 7 Deadly Sins: Recycling is the new black’ in the run-up to the inaugural Indian Formula 1 Grand Prix. Launched in Kuala Lumpur to celebrate the 10th Malaysian Petronas Formula 1 GP in 2007,by legendary shoe designer Jimmy Choo and Mercedes-Benz,Stylo has been a key feature amongst well-heeled fans of the F1 since its inception. It often uses avant-garde fashion as its platform, themed theatrical presentations as its tool, socialites and celebrity models as its participants and the well-heeled audience as its ardent supporters. ”The bold and sometimes decadent style of fashion parties has made the by-invitation Stylo a much-coveted VIP invitation during the F1 of recent years,” said Dato’ Nancy Yeoh,President and CEO of Stylo International. Stylo claims to hold the record of having created the worlds most expensive gown ensemble to date with its 2010 commission of The Nightingale valued at $30 million. The collaboration comprised a gown by Jendela KL and matching shoes by Jimmy Choo Couture studded with 701 diamonds; the smallest stone weighing 1 carat and the largest at 69 carats. Mouawad are the Swiss jewellers who created the diamond-studded Victorias Secret bra ensemble worn by Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks valued over $ 10 million. As preview for its show during the 2012 Olympics season,Stylo recently debuted during the London Fashion week season with much success with its 7 deadly sins concept featuring fashion pieces created out of 108kg of recycled wastes. The fashion garments utilised recycled tin cans, bottles, old newspapers, cardboard boxes, kitchen rolls and mosquito nets combined with 3D and 2D body art. A success we hope to repeat here in Mumbai except that the volume of wastes utilised will double that amount as the fashion collection will be twice that size, said Yeoh. We hope to entertain, excite and disseminate messages of conservation to this sophisticated audience via fashion. We welcome Stylo to India and believe this fashion accompaniment will make our party unique, relevant and exciting. Not only is Mercedes-Benz a major player in the F1 race but also a big voice in fashion on a worldwide level, said Peter Honegg,President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India. Besides Stylo,Mercedes-Benz currently supports a myriad of fashion weeks and festivals around the world including the launching pad of world fashion,New Yorks Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Honegg was credited with giving life to Stylo a fashion partner which supported the McLaren team parties at its inception and subsequently the Mercedes-Benz Petronas team parties. The Stylo party in Mumbai will be the only event Mercedes-Benz will be hosting for the F1 season and will see Mercedes-Benz handpick and bring 300 of its top customers from all over India to this coveted event. One of the main highlights of the event will be Indias top DJ,DJ Aqeel. The evening will feature a presentation by the owner of Hype supported by supermodels turn DJs who are winners and finalists of the Ford Supermodels of the World,Malaysia 2011.
